       Dalam beberapa literatur ditemukan, bahwa orang yang mengambil jalan pedang (bushido) yang kita kenal dengan samurai mengidentikan diri mereka dengan bunga sakura. Dua buah lambang bunga sakura ditemukan pada kebanyakan gagang Katana tepat pada tempat tangan kanan dan kiri sang samurai menggenggamnya. Bukankankah seorang samurai biasanya berkutat dengan katana dan senjata-senjata lainnya? dan bahkan akrab dengan seni beladiri, strategi bertempur, serta hal-hal keras dan maskulin lainnya? lalu mengapa mereka mengambil simbol diri mereka dengan bunga sakura?

Jika diamati, ternyata bunga sakura memiliki banyak kesamaan dengan seorang samurai kesamaan tersebut yaitu;

       Bunga sakura akan mekar pada satu musim dengan bersamaan dengan warna yang indah, akan tetapi dalam waktu singkat berguguran dan berjatuhan ketanah. Demikian pula dengan para samurai akan tumbuh dan muncul secara bersamaan dalam musim tertentu disaat akan ada pertempuran, tetapi tahukah kamu rata-rata seorang samurai pada masa perang atau bukan tidak akan mencapai umur 25 tahun? itu dikarenakan mereka hidup dengan jalan dan kehormatan pedang, mereka tidak takut mati demi sesuatu yang mereka yakini. kematian dengan pedang saat bertempur adalah kehormatan. bahkan disuatu era pedang digunakan untuk mengambil kehidupan orang lain.

       Hingga samurai-samurai besar seperti Miyamoto Musashi menyadari bahwa pedang bukanlah untuk mengambil kehidupan orang lain, tetapi untuk melindungi kehidupan. Setelah masa ini banyak para samurai yang tidak hanya pandai dalam seni beladiri, seni menggunakan pedang, dan seni bertempur lainnya. Mereka mempelajari juga filsafat, agama, seni sastra, seni rupa dan bidang intelektual lainnya yang bahkan malah membuat mereka tambah sulit untuk di kalahkan. tetapi membuat mereka lebih memahami dan menghargai hidup mereka yang singkat seperti bunga sakura itu. mereka menggenggam kehidupan seperti mereka menggenggam permata yang paling berharga dan tak menyianyiakannya dengan membuang waktu, tidak disiplin, menyesali hal yag tidak berguna, apalagi patah hati dan patah semangat. Itulah kenapa samurai menyimpan lambang bunga sakura di gagang katana mereka, mereka menggenggam katana berlambag dua bunga sakura agar mengingatkan mereka untuk menggenggam kehidupan seperti mereka menggenggam katana.KARENA HIDUP ITU SINGKAT DAN TERLALU BERHARGA UNTUK DISIASIAKAN maka mereka BENAR-BENAR HIDUP UNTUK MASA SEKARANG, BUKAN MASA LALU. TIDAK DIBERATKAN  DENGAN MASA DEPAN HINGGA MELUPAKAN MASA KINI.
